Janette is a Registered Acupuncturist (RAc) with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia and a Registered Herbalist (RH) with the American Herbalists Guild and has been in private clinical practice since 2009. She considers herself a general practitioner and treats a variety of health conditions ranging from traumatic injury and pain, digestive disorders, stress, chronic & acute health conditions, and  obstetrics and gynecology. Along with her clinical work, Janette teaches workshops and classes regularly in Port Alberni and abroad.

Janette's drive to study and understand health has ultimately been life-long, but her commitment to full time study started in 2001 when she moved from the family farm on Prince Edward Island to Victoria, BC in search of teachers. Once in Victoria she was able to find local herbalists, such as Don Ollsin to study with. She also completed apprenticeships and found employment in related fields. After 4 years of studying Western Herbal Medicine and finishing an Associate of Arts Degree from Camosun College, Janette enrolled in the Canadian College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine's Acupuncture program. She graduated from CCAOM in 2008, wrote her board exams, and became licensed by the CTCMA to practice acupuncture in British Columbia. After graduating, Janette also spent a year working with and studying with herbalist Chanchal Cabrera

When she is not working, Janette spends time with her family and is developping their farm near Sproat Lake - Happy Hollow Farm. She also has volunteered regularly in the community and has worked with Community Futures, the Young Professionals of the Alberni Valley's Dry Creek Community Garden, and the Alberni Valley Gleaning Project.

While in school and since graduating, Janette has dedicated her time to a variety of specialized training, self study, reading current research, wildcrafting, and hands on work with medicinal plants. She has additional training in:
